Parkinson’s UK was established in 1969 by Mali Jenkins, a charity dedicated to drive better care, treatments and quality of life for those suffering with Parkinson’s disease. Over the past 5 decades they have funded ground-breaking research and provided support to thousands of people across the UK. Their local teams across the UK concentrate on working with communities to get the appropriate services and support to meet residents needs by providing information, support and guidance to people affected by Parkinson's.
Novo-K were approached by Parkinson’s UK Finance Director for support and guidance to review Parkinson’s Print Fulfillment and Distribution services. This was one of the largest areas of expenditure for the charity and with contracts coming to an end and Parkinson’s UK were faced with the challenge of managing multiple suppliers, no direct points of contact and existing contracts needing to be updated to include GDPR clauses, due to the imminent change of Data Protection legislation.
Parkinson’s UK wanted to work with a specialist procurement consultancy for their expertise and sector knowledge to ensure risks were mitigated, inefficiencies were highlighted and addressed and value for money was achieved.
The discovery session initiated the process to gain comprehensive understanding of the scope and to identify the objectives with the client.
The team conducted an on-site visit and met with the steering committee and other stakeholders. Using information we gathered, we planned, built and implemented our Sourcing to Selection Process, which we tailored to Parkinson’s UK specific needs.
"With a warm approach they learnt about our organisation, built relationships with our team and importantly listened to our requirements and what we needed to get out of the project" Fatima Talidi-Marrero, Head of Individual Giving and Supporter Services, Parkinson’s UK.
We led on the chosen procurement approach and owned the actions of the project. We worked closely with the steering committee, assessing and highlighting issues before they became risks and using our dashboard/project plans to keep the whole team updated on a regular basis.
"We were very impressed with Novo-K throughout the RFP. The process of investigation into the supply chain, gaining insight into the individual suppliers and their capabilities enabled Novo-K to rationalise, delivering best value and service whilst also simplifying supplier management for the Client." Duncan Marrison, Managing Director of Mosaic Fulfillment Solutions
The team carried out market research (through their close relationships with other charities), led on contract negotiations and awarded the contract on time with unanimous agreement from the steering board. The contract was signed by Steve Wood, the CEO of Parkinson’s UK.
“We are delighted with the expertise that Novo-K brought to the procurement project. From day one they have ensured the project has run smoothly and they worked extremely hard with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the project on time and appoint a supplier that caters for our needs and has a good fit with the charity. The communication with the project team has been excellent and they provided us with guidance and support throughout the process.” Stephen Hooper, Acting Finance Director, Parkinsons UK
Novo-K’s end to end solution provided Parkinson’s UK with all the documentation and market research required, meeting all agreed timescales, enabling them to make an informed decision and the contract was awarded to the chosen supplier on the date agreed. The team helped build the foundations for an ongoing working relationship, consolidating accounts, improving efficiencies, making savings and reducing risk.
Throughout the process, the team at Novo-K have delivered exceptional communication and have provided outgoing, responsive and supportive guidance where needed.
As a charity, we do not have the in-house resources to be able to carry out such a complex project. By partnering with Novo-K, we were able to benefit from their wealth of specialist skills, knowledge of both procurement and the charity sector. Whilst also maintaining a professional manner Novo-K were proficient throughout the entire process." Fatima Talidi-Marrero
